A reminder.  I am glad so many people come to our little website to see what is happening on the water.  I started visiting our waterways in 1986 and bought my place in 1999.  Back "in the day" the only way you knew what was going on was 'word of mouth' or {hopefully} see a flyer taped up on the side of one of our local stores, restaurants, or bars.  It was that or try to remember "about" what time they had it last year.  None of these are exactly the best way to get the word out.

Also, it use to be just pick a weekend when nothing else was happening to host an event.  Now, once spring / summer is in full swing, we often have an event every weekend, (at times 2 or 3 events)

I post pretty much anything and everything and charge nothing to do so.  I want to see ALL of our places on the water do well and the events we have, as well.  Even the few places (and their customers) that do not care for me (to say the least):  I want all of them to do well and our recreational boating public to enjoy all that we have right here in Livingston / Ascension Parish(s) and our other surrounding parishes.

What I am trying to say is this:  I have asked and reminded many of our event organizers to mention the website when they make their flyers.  They can cut way down on printing cost.  Instead of printing tons of flyers and leaving them on a counter in our local stores, people can easily go to the website and download what they need.  Maybe its just that the person doing the graphics work for the event hasn't gotten the message.

You can help me get the message out.  On the flyer in some small part of one corner mention "for additional flyers go to www.RiverRatRob.com."  It doesn't hurt to show our logo with our sexy little rat, either.

One last thing.  Plan ahead.  Nobody wants to do an event and no one show up.  Don't wait to the last minute and expect big results.

P,S.  Recently I got asked how many was on my staff?  You see, people visit the website and see all the stuff we do from aerial photos, the website, the maps, etc.  They see The JAM slideshow of 2007 and think we have tons of people working.  Very wrong.  Back to the question:  Again, I was asked by this big company I am close to doing business with, "How many are on your staff?"  "Counting me," I asked?  Yes, counting you.  Only one.

So, if I ask for help, please don't assume hundreds flock at my request.  A handful of close friends that always show up and work really, really hard is more like it.
