Stump Marking Slideshow:  (Note this was a borrowed camera and someone did not change the date on the time stamp.  It says "2007" but in actual fact, was done last week.

Stump Warning Sign Slideshow

While we were out, we also snapped a few pictures of abandoned boats.  While I see this on most of our waterways, it is a lower Livingston parish tradition {for some} to dispose of their boats in such a manner.  The Amite River from French Settlement out to the lake is the worst, but Blind River {and others} have problems.  Check out the dump on Blind River where people put their appliances, waiting for high water to take them out.  It most certainly takes away from the natural beauty of our rivers.

Many are going to say the government should clean all that up.  Livingston Parish President, Mike Grimmer, is working on grants to do just that.  For many, the government has become the answer and cure all for everything.  Personally, I think a bunch of coon-asses and red necks, a few cases of beer, and some good food afterwards can do anything better and cheaper than the government.  We need another River Clean-Up, just like my friends over at Manchac do with their "Beach Sweep."  These are just a few of the photos I took (before my boat broke).  There are LOTS more were these came from.  (again, the date stamp says "2007" from the digital camera I was using, but these were taken last week.

Abandoned Boats (and junk)

Here's a link to my recent story about my "Stump Warning Sign Program,"  if you are interested.  Got quite a few e-mails (good and bad) about it, including some telling what I should have said, how I should have said it, what I should think, and what I should expect.  Most get my style of writing and my somewhat different sense of humor and outlook on things.  Some don't and never will.
